Technology
Additive Manufacturing
There are many companies in the furniture sector that today have already incorporated 3D printing into their production processes to simplify and, at the same time, economize the design and manufacturing processes. On the other hand, this technology opens up other horizons that until now were difficult to achieve with the traditional manufacturing method.
About Artis, Arquitectura Interior
This is the case of the collaboration between INTECH3D and Artis, Arquitectura Interior which, thanks to additive manufacturing, manufactures both prototypes and final pieces for its furniture, thus streamlining its production and reducing manufacturing times.
The company Artis, Arquitectura Interior is the head of a group of companies specialized in the design and distribution of dividing partitions, furniture for office spaces, corporate headquarters, contract and business centers. Its production center and headquarters are located in Lleida.
“Thanks to 3D printing we have streamlined production, reducing manufacturing times for complex parts by 50% and testing new designs. In addition, the costs of machining these parts in aluminum are much higher than the cost of 3D printing it with PLA material. By having the equipment in our offices, we can offer a customized product to our end customer and deliver it much faster.”
Eduard Agustí - Factory Director
The challenge: Manufacture of prototypes and final parts reducing time and costs
At Artis, Arquitectura Interior are manufacturers of dividing screens and exclusive furniture. His interest in 3D printing technology arises from the need to test new prototypes of profiles and parts and reduce manufacturing times and costs of small plastic parts, which are part of the union of the partitions. These parts have a very complex geometry, and the machining costs are very high compared to 3D printing.
In addition, they were looking for the possibility of customizing the designs for the end customer, such as putting a stamp on it.
The solution: 3D printing with PLA
Thanks to additive manufacturing, they can manufacture final parts that are part of the dividing partitions and also make prototype profiles to reduce the risk of error. In this way, they avoid outsourcing parts to machining centers, reducing costs and time.
In addition, now they can manufacture a product with a lighter material, with complex geometry and where they add value, with design customization. The material used for printing is usually PLA, a polymer that is very easy to print, with good surface finishes and that is used both for prototyping and for making final parts.
Project results: Reduction of production times by 50% and manufacturing costs
Thanks to the integration of 3D printing in its production processes, Artis, Interior Architecture, has streamlined production, reducing manufacturing times and testing of new designs by up to 50%. It has also meant a considerable cost reduction, since machining aluminum parts was much more expensive than doing it with 3D printing and, specifically, with PLA.
In addition, since they have the printing equipment in their facilities, they can offer a better customer experience, because they can customize the furniture to the maximum and reduce delivery times, which adds value to the product and, consequently, to your company.
The INTECH3D 3D Consulting process
INTECH3D we are business advisers and consultants, in the field of the integration of additive production technologies in the value chains of companies. We take responsibility for the correct integration of the teams in the value chain of each company or business:
- Advice during the choice of the right technology
- Marketing of equipment, consumables and spare parts
- Training for the use of the necessary Hardware and Software
- Integrated equipment maintenance
- Official technical service for all products marketed
The INTECH3D technical team has more than 6 years of experience in various 3D printing technologies. We have different technologies and manufacturing materials with 3D printing, to cover the different technological or business needs of each sector:
- Conceptual prototypes
- Functional prototypes
- Final components
- Workshop tools
- Spare parts
- Short and medium production series.
It is also very important that all the departments of the same company know all the possibilities and benefits that 3D printing can bring to their sector:
- Risk reduction in manufacturing
- Reduced manufacturing costs
- Reduced manufacturing time
- Validation with a prototype before making an investment in final manufacturing
- Manufacture "on demand", without discarding material.
- Reduction of the "Time to Market" of the final product
- Manufacture of "Bridge" series to know its fit in the market
- Possibility of making short production series
- Elimination of time in the provision of Stock
If you want to apply 3D printing technology in your company or business, do not hesitate to contact us. We are at the service of companies for the immediate resolution of any doubt or query related to the use of the equipment.
